It is warm out there! I have discovered that British people love nothing more than talking about the weather and the very hot temperatures the last few days have helped to elevate those discussions to a higher plane. Apparently, yesterday (Tuesday), was the hottest day of the year so far. Can this really be September in Notting Hill, London?
It is fantastic to be able to use our glorious garden here at Vincent House. I love nothing more than getting back from work, eating my dinner in the dining room as quickly as possible and then sitting outside in the garden. Seems I am not alone as other residents are enjoying it too. The communal spaces such as the garden and the lounge are a great way to get to know the many interesting people living here from a wide range of different countries.
I’m sure you’ve heard the term ‘Indian Summer’; apparently, it originally referred to unseasonably warm weather in October and November but seems it has crept into September too for many. I think 34 degrees, the actual highest temperature recorded yesterday, is very unseasonably warm and so maybe we can classify it as an Indian Summer.
Autumn will no doubt be with us before we know it so I for one will take advantage of the extended summer weather and enjoy the outdoor spaces of Vincent House. If only I didn’t have to work during the day I could really top up on tan in this fantastic summer. Those deck chairs in the nearby parks (Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park and Holland Park are all within walking distance of Vincent House) are looking very inviting at lunchtime.
